Visit of the Director of “Jongwoo Green”Mr.Kyung-ho Bea to the Administration of FEZ “Sughd”

On February 19-20, 2025, the Director of “Jongwoo Green” from the Republic of Korea, Mr.Kyung-ho Bea visited the Administration of the Sughd Free Economic Zone . The Head of the FEZ “Sughd” Administration, Muhammadzoda Muhammad Sultan, welcomed the guests in the conference hall of FEZ “Sughd” and provided detailed information about the zone’s activities, benefits, and advantages.

Mr.Kyung-ho Bea presented his business plan to the FEZ “Sughd” Administration and provided specific details about it. After a productive meeting, the guests noted that, given the favorable investment conditions in FEZ “Sughd”, they are ready for economic cooperation.

Visit of the Deputy Minister of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan

On February 17, 2025, the Deputy Minister of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Aziz Nazar, during his business trip to the Sughd region, visited the industrial enterprises of the FEZ “Sughd”. The leadership of the FEZ “Sughd” administration welcomed the respectable guests at the entrance and provided detailed information about the activities, advantages and benefits of the FEZ “Sughd”.

Later, the guests visited several entities of the FEZ “Sughd”, including LLC JV TT “Tajprof”, LLC “Tojpanel”, LLC “Sayri Sughd”, LLC JV TT “Fortuna Co”, LLC “Asiapolitex”, and LLC “Afrang Plastik”, and had discussions with the management of the enterprises.

English lessons in the FEZ “Sughd”

Based on the instructions and orders of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, honorable Emomali Rahmon, as mentioned in his recent address to the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan: “We must give top priority to the study of Russian and English languages as international languages of communication”.

Therefore, with the support of the Head of the Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sughd region, Muhammadzoda Muhammad Sultan, in order to implement the mentioned instructions and orders, English language lessons started on February 12,2025, at the Administration of the FEZ “Sughd”.

Press conference in the FEZ “Sughd”

On February 7, 2025, a press conference was held at the building of the FEZ “Sughd” Administration, dedicated to the activities of the state institution FEZ “Sughd”. The head of the Administration, Muhammadzoda Muhammad Sulton, greeted and thanked the media representatives for their cooperation.

In his speech, Muhammadzoda Muhammad Sulton noted that in 2024, the Administration of the FEZ “Sughd” took the necessary measures to implement the instructions and orders of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the respected Emomali Rahmon, as well as the decisions of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan on free economic zones and the Regulations of the FEZ “Sughd”, along with the working plan of the FEZ “Sughd” for 2024.

In 2024, 7 new entities were registered in FEZ “Sughd”, bringing the total number of entities to 41. Of these, 21 entities are engaged in manufacturing, construction, and service activities.

The volume of industrial production in 2024 amounted to 442 million somoni, which is 125,2 % or 89,1 million somoni more compared to the same period in 2023. The volume of construction and service work during the reporting period amounted to 4,4 million somoni. The export volume of products by entities during the reporting period was 141,5 million somoni more compared to the same period in 2023.

In 2024, the volume of direct investments reached 47,3 million somoni, which is 147,8% or 15,3 million somoni more compared to the same period last year, and since the start of the FEZ “Sughd” ‘s operations, it amounted to 218,3 million somoni.

During the reporting period, the total number of jobs in the FEZ “Sughd” was 930, which is 20 new jobs or 102,2% more compared to the same period in 2023.

It should be noted that during the press conference, the Head of the Administration signed a contract with the new entity, LCC “Sayokhi Sughd”, regarding its activities and presented the FEZ “Sughd” certificate to the head of the company. Media representatives had a conversation with the founder of LLC “Sayokhi Sughd”, Yuriy Kosolap, and received detailed information about its activities.

In conclusion, the Head of the FEZ “Sughd” Administration, Muhammadzoda Muhammad Sulton, expressed his gratitude to the media representatives for their continuous cooperation with the FEZ “Sughd”.

In accordance with the administration’s program, a press tour was organized for media representatives. During the tour, representatives of print and electronic media spoke with the heads of the entities in the FEZ “Sughd”, LCC “Sayr Sughd” and LCC “Asia Politeks”, and also familiarized themselves with the progress of construction at the newly built enterprises in the FEZ “Sughd”.

Organization of a collective clean-up day in the FEZ «Sughd»

The management of the administration of the FEZ «Sughd» on behalf of Chairman of the Sughd region, respected Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, in honor of the celebration of the International holiday of Navruz, as well as the visit of high- ranking officials of the Presidents of the neighboring states of Uzbekistan, Kyrgystan and Tajikistan to the city of Khujand. A lot of work has been organized on the improvement and greening of the territory of the FEZ «Sughd», and weekly clean-ups will also be held. On the 1^st of February, 2025 under the leadership of the head of the FEZ «Sughd» administration Muhammadzoda Muhammad Sulton held a clean-up with the administration staff, as well as the subjects of the FEZ «Sughd». More than 250 evergreen seedlings were planted on this clean-up day along the inner road in the FEZ. It’s also worth noting that the management of the FEZ «Sughd» will continue to organize weekly clean-ups to maintain cleanliness and greening the territory of the Free economic zone «Sughd».

On the 30^th of January, 2025 the director of the international company «ANT GROUP» in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr.Dauletkulov Nurdaulet Tasbalatovich, visited the Administration of the Free Economic Zone «Sughd». The head of the administration of the FEZ «Sughd» Muhammadzoda Muhammad Sulton welcomed the guests in the meeting hall of the FEZ «Sughd» and gave specific information about the activities, privileges and advantages of the FEZ «Sughd». After the meeting, the guests noted that they would cooperate in the future thanks to the favorable investment conditions offered by the free economic zone «Sughd».

SUGHD FEZ: DISCUSSION OF POSSIBILITY TO IMPLEMENT AN INNOVATIVE AND ECO-FRIENDLY PROJECT

Between July 20th and 22nd of this year, Mr. Ma Yuyun from the People’s Republic of China visited Sughd FEZ to learn more about the activities and benefits of the free zone. He represents Junchi Machinery and Jinpeng companies, which manufacture electric cars in China.

During a series of meetings and negotiations, Mr. Ma and his Tajik partner received detailed information about the FEZ and were given a tour over the territory of FEZ.

The guests were impressed by the opportunities and benefits offered in the free zone and expressed their intention to learn more thoroughly the possibility of the project on production of small-sized electric cars and motorcycles of various purposes.

The management of Sughd FEZ Administration expressed strong support for the project, which aligns with the primary type of activity permitted in the FEZ as per the law on free economic zones in Tajikistan. The Head of FEZ Administration – Muhammadzoda Muhammad Sulton, in particular, assured that the Administration always welcomes such kind of innovative projects and is ready to provide support and necessary information.

At the end of the meeting, Muhammadzoda Muhammad Sulton thanked Mr. Ma Yuyun for his interest in Sughd FEZ and reminded him that after finalizing the project with other partners, Mr. Ma must develop a detailed investment plan. The Administration and relevant authorized bodies in Tajikistan will then make decisions based on the study of this investment project.

SUGHD FEZ WAS PRESENTED TO CHINESE MANUFACTURING COMPANIES AND BUSINESS COMMUNITIES.

As previously reported, the Head of Administration of Sughd FEZ, Muhammadzoda Muhammad Sulton, is on a business visit to the PRC, where he is participating in the International Business Forum at the invitation of the Chinese side.
On May 16, according to the forum’s program, participants took part in the Construction and Industrial Exhibition held at the Xinjiang International Exhibition Center, where products from local manufacturing companies were presented.

At the opening ceremony, Muhammadzoda Muhammad Sulton gave a presentation on activities of Sughd FEZ. He began his speech by praising China’s significant role in Tajikistan’s economic development and strong trade relations between Tajik and Xinjiang businessmen, as well as the consolidated friendly and cultural ties between two countries. He then highlighted the advantages of FEZ, including its favorable economic conditions, special legal regime, and tax benefits provided to its subjects.

He noted that more than thirty local and joint companies, including those with Chinese investments, successfully operate in Sughd FEZ.
A video clip about the FEZ’s activities was also shown.
Additionally, a representative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan in the People’s Republic of China gave a presentation on the favorable business atmosphere of Tajikistan.

After the opening ceremony, participants toured the exhibition and learned about local Chinese industrial and construction companies’ achievements. The head of Sughd FEZ held negotiations with representatives of these companies to discuss establishing cooperation and organizing joint companies in the FEZ, emphasizing its preferences for producing in-demand goods to Tajikistan and Central Asia markets.

The delegation of Tajikistan will continue its work in Qingdao and Linyi cities of Shandong Province within the framework of the forum.

PARTNERSHIP SEARCH WITH CHINESE COMPANIES

On May 14 of this year, the International Business Forum commenced its activities in the province of Xinjiang. The primary objective of the forum was to seek and establish partnerships between Chinese companies and business communities from near and far abroad, as well as to showcase the accomplishments of local companies in producing competitive goods.

This high-profile event was organized at the initiative of the Yiwu International Trade Group Co.
Among the distinguished delegates, the head of Administration of Sughd Free Economic Zone, Muhammadzoda Muhammad Sulton, was honored with an invitation to participate in the forum.
On the first day, following the opening ceremony, the guests visited the Free Economic Zone of Kashgar City. This visit resulted in the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the authorities of FEZ Sughd and Kashgar FEZ to explore opportunities for cooperation.
Later that day, a meeting was convened with officials and entrepreneurs of Kashgar city, aimed at discussing prospects for collaboration with visiting representatives, particularly from Central Asia, in mutually beneficial trade and the production of high-quality, sought-after products. The head of the Administration of the Sughd FEZ engaged in negotiations with representatives of Chinese manufacturing companies during the B2B meetings to explore the possibilities and prospects of cooperation, including the establishment of new joint ventures in the Sughd FEZ.

At the end of the first day of the forum, an extensive meeting of business representatives from the Republic of Tajikistan and the People’s Republic of China took place. This meeting saw vigorous discussions on initiatives and prospects for the formation of mutually beneficial cooperation. Additionally, memorandums and agreements were signed between several entrepreneurs and companies from the two friendly countries.

The Forum will continue its activities until May 21st.

VISIT BY UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL ASIA’S STUDENTS TO SUGHD FEZ

On May 29, this year, about thirty students and several teachers from the University of Central Asia’s economic program that is based in the heart of GBAO Khorog town visited Sughd FEZ.

Their purpose was to familiarize themselves with the activities of Sughd FEZ, one of Tajikistan’s successful free zones. The visit included tours of several FEZ companies such as the Institute of Industry and Service, Asiapolitex LLC, TT JV Archa Mebel LLC, and TT JV Fortuna-Co LLC.
The students received comprehensive information from the representatives of these companies and showed great interest in their activities and products. Memorable photographs were taken during the visit to each company.

At the end of the tour, the students and teachers expressed gratitude to the management of Sughd FEZ and its companies for providing them with the opportunity to explore the FEZ. They also expressed their desire to continue cooperating in organizing similar study and practical visits.
