On May 15, 2025, the Head of the Administration of the Sughd Free Economic Zone, Muhammadzoda Muhammad Sultan, delivered an online speech during a virtual meeting with members of the Russia–Tajikistan Business Council at the XVI International Economic Forum “Kazan Forum” 2025.
The Head of the Administration provided information about the activities and benefits of the Sughd FEZ, as well as details regarding the operations of joint ventures functioning within the region.
On Saturday, at the initiative of the Head of the Sughd FEZ, Mr. Muhammadzoda M.S., and with the involvement of employees and enterprises located within the Sughd FEZ, a general community cleanup day was held.
During the event, participants, driven by a strong work ethic, engaged in cleaning, landscaping, and beautifying the surrounding environment. Streets and sidewalks were swept, waste was collected, and transported to designated locations.
The main goal of such events is to improve environmental cleanliness, create favorable conditions for work and economic activity, and foster a sense of responsibility among employees and companies.
On May 18, 2025, as part of the Youth Day events in Sughd Province, the National Race was held with the participation of the Chairman of Sughd Province, Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, heads and employees of various organizations and institutions, youth, students, and local residents. The leadership and staff of the Administration of the Sughd Free Economic Zone also took part in this event.
The sporting competition took place in the regional center — the city of Khujand. The race started at the Swimming Pool Complex “20th Anniversary of the Independence of Tajikistan” and continued along Rahim Jalil Street to Rahmon Nabiev Avenue. More than 18,000 people participated in the sporting event, and at the end, memorable gifts were presented to active representatives of organizations and institutions.
The purpose of the race is to promote a healthy lifestyle, support the development of sports, and increase its popularity among the population.
The National Race is a nationwide campaign aimed at improving public health and promoting mass sports. It is held annually on the third Sunday of May, based on the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Tajikistan dated March 28, 2007, “On the National Race Day.”
On May 14, 2025, Ms. Wan Lixian, Director of the Institute of Ecology and Geography of the city of Xinjiang, People’s Republic of China, visited the Administration of the Free Economic Zone «Sughd» to get acquainted with its activities and economic relations.
The Head of the Administration of the FEZ «Sughd», Mr. Muhammadzoda Muhammad Sultan, warmly welcomed the guests in the conference hall and provided detailed information about the zone’s operations and benefits. Additionally, Ms. U. Rahimova, the leading specialist of the Department of International Relations and Investment Attraction, presented information to the guests through an electronic presentation.
The parties held discussions about existing Tajik-Chinese joint ventures and Chinese private enterprises operating within the FEZ «Sughd», as well as cooperation with reputable Chinese companies, expressing intentions to further strengthen economic relations in the future.
At the end of the visit, the guests visited one of the FEZ entities — LLC “Asiapolitex” — and held a conversation with its representatives.
This week, entrepreneurs from the People’s Republic of China — Shiqiang Song, Shiyong Song and Ren Baozhen — visited the Free Economic Zone «Sughd». The guests were welcomed in the conference hall of the Administration building by the Head of the FEZ «Sughd» Administration, Mr. Muhammadzoda Muhammad Sultan, who provided detailed information about the advantages and benefits of the FEZ «Sughd». The Administration also provided specific information about the enterprises within the FEZ that are fully or partially funded by Chinese investors.During the meeting, both sides discussed the activities of their companies and expressed their intention to become residents of the FEZ «Sughd» in the future.
On May 9, 2025, in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, a solemn event was held at the memorial to the fallen soldiers of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 in the city of Khujand. The event was attended by the Governor of Sughd Region, Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, representatives of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan, the Border Troops of the Russian Federation, the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Khujand, and other officials. Employees of the Administration of the Sughd Free Economic Zone, led by the Director of the Sughd FEZ State Institution, Muhammadzoda Muhammad Sultan, also took part in the event by laying wreaths and honoring the memory of the fallen soldiers.
On May 5, 2025, at the building of the Executive Authority of Sughd Region, a meeting was held between the Deputy Governor of the region, Anvar Yaqubi, and the Head of the Administration of the Sughd Free Economic Zone, Muhammadzoda Muhammad Sultan, with the representative of the World Bank, Senior Agricultural Economist Hazem Khanbal.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of the project “Enhancing Sustainable Agricultural Development” within the Sughd Free Economic Zone. The discussion focused on the construction and commissioning of wholesale agricultural distribution centers and cold storage facilities on a 2-hectare plot of land allocated by the Administration of the Sughd FEZ in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan. The project is financed by the World Bank.
On April 29, 2025, a representative of the company “Niko” from Beijing, People’s Republic of China, which specializes in the production of solar panels, visited the Administration of the Sughd Free Economic Zone to familiarize himself with its activities and opportunities.
The head of the Administration of the Sughd FEZ, Muhammadzoda Muhammad Sultan, welcomed the guests in the Administration’s conference hall and provided detailed information about the advantages and priorities of the Sughd FEZ, as well as about the enterprises established with full or partial investment from Chinese entrepreneurs.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the activities of their enterprises, and Mr. Ping Hui provided detailed information about his project focused on the production of solar panels and noted his intention to become a resident of the Sughd FEZ in the future.
The China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), in cooperation with the Xinjiang Committee for the Promotion of International Trade of China and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan, organized the SCO-China Arbitration Forum on April 25, 2025, in Urumqi, People’s Republic of China, under the theme: “Pooling efforts for cooperation in arbitration and embarking on a new path under the rule of law.”
The representative from Sughd Region at this Forum was Mr. Nosirov M.R., Head of the Department of Legal Support, Human Resources, and Special Affairs of the State Institution “Sughd” Free Economic Zone Administration.
During the Forum, issues of strengthening exchanges and cooperation between dispute resolution institutions — members of the SCO and regions of Central Asia — were discussed. The procedures for judicial support of arbitration and assistance in the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards in the respective regions were also reviewed.
The Administration of the Sughd Free Economic Zone expresses its sincere gratitude to the leadership of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan for the initiative and assistance in organizing participation in the international legal Forum. The head of the Administration of the Sughd FEZ, Mr. Muhammadzoda Muhammad Sultan, welcomed the guests in the Administration’s meeting hall. Afterwards, a presentation was given to the guests providing detailed information on the advantages and benefits of the Sughd FEZ.
