The Republic of Tajikistan is in Central Asia bordered by Uzbekistan to the west and north-west, Kyrgyzstan to the north, China to the east, and Afghanistan to the south with the area of 143,000 km2 and population of 7,2 million. More than 50% of the territory is above 3000 m. The highest peak of the area is Ismoil Somoni Peak (7495 m, formerly known as Communism Peak).

There are more than 80 ethnic groups in Tajikistan, the main of which are the Tajiks (80%), with minorities such as Uzbeks (15,3%), Russians (1,1%), Tatars (0,3%). Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, has population of 562,000.

The official language is Tajik (a variety of Persian). Russian and English are used in business and international communication.

The climate of Tajikistan is rather diverse as any other mountainous country lied in the southern latitudes has: subtropical in lowlands, lukewarm in midlands and frigid in highlands.

Tajikistan is an original and distinctive country with the most amazing and striking natural contrasts. Mountains are 93% of the area, which are considered to be the most beautiful in Central Asia.

The country has a great historical heritage, a unique culture, a vast variety of natural landscapes and recreation zones, attractive flora and fauna and also favorable geographical location.
